The US Consumer and Products Safety Commission was overwhelmed when it started receiving complaints of overheating of batteries and even fires in just a couple of months of the product launch in August 2016. The complaints reached 97 in numbers.
Samsung had to recall 2.5 million of its smartphones. These were some of the costliest phones in the market.
After effect:
The company suffered losses in billions. However, talk of determination and learning lessons effectively, Samsung released Note 8 the next year and this time the new phone received a lot of praises and big sales.
