1. Magnesium

Low blood levels of magnesium have been observed in 25–38% of people with type 2 diabetes and are more common in those who don’t have their blood sugar under good control.

Studies have shown that taking magnesium supplements for up to 24 weeks can help reduce blood sugar levels in healthy individuals.

One study found that increasing the amount of magnesium by 50 mg a day can help reduce fasting blood sugar by 3%.

5. American Ginseng

American ginseng may improve your cells’ response to and increase your body’s insulin secretion. When people with type 2 diabetes took 1 gram of American ginseng 40 minutes before breakfast, lunch, and dinner for two months while maintaining their regular treatment – it brought down fasting blood sugar 10% more than those on a placebo.

You can take up to 3 grams per day as long as you wait at least two hours before each meal.
