10. Egg Recall of 2010
Company: Wright Country/Hillandale Farms
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was investigating a salmonella outbreak in 2010 and they tracked it to an Iowa plant of Wright Country/Hillandale Farms. The outbreak had infected over 1900 people. No deaths were reported. The farm had to recall over half a billion eggs!
These food recalls had been massive and created a breach of trust in the minds of consumers. It also taught the other companies a lesson to be more cautious because they are dealing with edible products here. They are feeding people and pets.
